Putnam County School District Raises Base Salary for Teachers

Yesterday the Putnam County School Board unanimously agreed to approve the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation (TSIA) plan and it is now being submitted to the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) for final approval.

The TSIA plan is in response to Governor DeSantis’s HB 641 which requires the revenue to be used to increase the minimum teacher salaries.  Once approved by FLDOE, the base salary for teachers with up to 8 years of experience will increase to $45,142.  Teachers with more than 8 years of experience will receive a $1,200 salary increase and also a step of approximately $895 (if they are not stepped out). Although the TSIA does not allow for non-classroom teachers such as deans and guidance counselors to receive the additional funds, the District recognizes the importance of compensating all teachers. In response, the District contributed an additional $180,683 to make this a reality.  All salary increases will be retroactive to July 1, 2020.
