Kennedy Space Center Field Trip Ignites Passion for STEM Learning in Putnam County Schools

Earlier this month 422 students from the Putnam County School District embarked on a field trip to the Kennedy Space Center. This experience was specifically designed for 5th Grade students and students in secondary STEM classes, providing them with a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of space and foster a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The journey to the Kennedy Space Center was made possible through the generous support of a Target Math & STEM Grant. This grant, a testament to the commitment of fostering STEM education, covered the entire cost of admission for all 5th Grade students and secondary CS/STEM students. Additionally, the grant extended its support to cover the expenses of 12 charter buses.

The day was filled with awe-inspiring moments as students witnessed the marvels of space technology, learned about the history of space exploration, and engaged in hands-on STEM activities. From rocket launches to interactive exhibits, the Kennedy Space Center provided an immersive environment that sparked curiosity and excitement among the young minds.

A collection of pictures capturing the memorable moments can be found here.

This field trip underscores the importance of fostering STEM education and providing students with real-world experiences that ignite their passion for learning.
